  • From Monday, July 22 (4:00 p.m.) through Thursday, July 25, 2019, Météo-France issued an orange alert for the five departments of the Pays de la Loire region (Loire-Atlantique and Vendée starting July 23)

  • Total healthcare utilization: No increase in emergency room visits or SOS-Médecins interventions across all causes

  • Healthcare utilization for the iCanicule1 composite indicator: Increase over the 4-day heatwave period in the proportion of heat-related iCanicule conditions among coded emergency room visits (ages 75 and older and all ages combined) and among coded SOS-Médecins calls (all ages combined). There was also an increase in the proportion of hospitalizations following visits for iCanicule among coded hospitalizations.
