Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of November 12, 2015.

Over the past week in the region:

  • SOS Médecins consultations and visits to the emergency department at Nantes University Hospital for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age remain just below the epidemic threshold. A few rare cases of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) have been reported by laboratories at the Nantes and Angers University Hospitals. This situation contrasts with the rapidly growing epidemic in Normandy and the Île-de-France region.

  • 98 cases of mushroom poisoning have been reported in the region by the CAPTV since July, including 2 in the past week. Ten severe cases, including 2 deaths, have been observed. A description of the severe cases reported in the region since the start of the mushroom-picking season is presented on page 4.

  • Resurgence of clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in nursing homes, with 16 new outbreaks since the beginning of September. No significant circulation of RSV or influenza viruses has been observed by virology laboratories.
