Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of July 1, 2015.

Over the past week in the region:

  • The start of the enterovirus viral meningitis season has been confirmed, with 12 enterovirus isolates in CSF at Nantes University Hospital since the beginning of June.

  • There was a slight increase in heat-related illnesses last week, though numbers remained within expected seasonal ranges. The current impact of the heat wave on June 29 and 30 is limited to an increase in emergency room visits for heatstroke (22 in two days); there was no significant increase in visits by people aged 75 or older.

  • Allergy and asthma attack diagnoses made by SOS Médecins continued to decline last week, in line with the decrease in grass pollen emissions, which will be further limited by the heat. Information on pollen risks is available on the following websites: - Sentinel Pollinariums (Nantes and Laval): http://www.airpl.org/pollens/pollinariums_sentinelles_et_alertes_pollens- National Aerobiological Monitoring Network (RNSA): http://www.pollens.fr/docs/vigilance.html
