Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of December 28, 2011.

Over the past week in the region:

The bronchiolitis epidemic peaked in week 49, with the following trends observed in week 51:

  • a continued decline in the number of bronchiolitis diagnoses reported by SOS Médecins (13% of diagnoses in children under 2 years of age),

  • in both university hospitals, a decrease in RSV isolations, and at Nantes University Hospital, a stabilization in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis among children under two years of age (38%),

  • at the regional level, a decrease in emergency department visits by children under one year of age in the region’s seven sentinel hospitals during the first week; this decrease remains modest due to an increase in the number of visits at the Saint-Nazaire and Laval hospitals.

No flu activity yet, nor any significant increase in the number of gastroenteritis cases.
