Over the past week in the region:

• After six weeks of progression, the bronchiolitis outbreak has plateaued. Based on typical trends, the outbreak is expected to decline during the first week of school break. RSV circulation remains very active. This outbreak is impacting the number of emergency room visits by infants under one year of age, with 800 visits instead of the 440 expected across the region’s seven sentinel hospitals.

• There have been several clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in nursing homes, with 22 new outbreaks since the beginning of September.
