As of April 29, 2020 (12:00 p.m.), 2,928 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported by hospital and private laboratories to the ARS Pays de la Loire since the start of the epidemic
Community-based surveillance
SOS Médecins: 474 cases of suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 cases in week 17 (728 in week 16)
Community laboratories (including the 3-lab network): 5% positive test results in week 17 (9% in week 16)
Surveillance in long-term care facilities, including nursing homes
1,770 cases (possible or confirmed) among residents, including 200 deaths in long-term care facilities (ESMS/Ehpad) and 55 in hospitals reported as of April 27, 2020
1,161 cases (possible or confirmed) among staff reported as of April 27, 2020
Hospital surveillance
Oscour® Network: 653 emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 visits in week 17 (809 in week 16)
Hospital laboratories: 6% of tests positive in week 17 (12.5% in week 16)
SI VIC data: 701 people hospitalized for COVID-19 (including 94 in intensive care) as of April 28
Sentinel intensive care units: Among the 251 reported ICU admissions, 52% of patients were aged 65 and older, and 61% had at least one risk factor.
Mortality surveillance
Moderate excess mortality from all causes and across all age groups observed in Sarthe during week 16 (April 13–19)
The age group of 65 years and older was predominantly affected by this increase in all-cause mortality
