As of April 23, 2020 (12:00 p.m.), 2,761 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported by hospital and private laboratories to the ARS Pays de la Loire since the start of the outbreak
Community-based surveillance
SOS Médecins: 728 cases of suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 cases in week 16 (1,023 in week 15)
LABM (network of 3 labs): 8.5% positive test results in week 16 (4.5% in week 15)
Surveillance in long-term care facilities, including nursing homes
1,859 cases (possible or confirmed) among residents, including 156 deaths in long-term care facilities and 46 in hospitals reported as of April 21, 2020
1,123 cases (possible or confirmed) among staff reported as of April 21, 2020
Hospital surveillance
Oscour® Network: 812 emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 visits in Week 16 (1,213 in Week 15)
Hospital laboratories: 12.5% of tests positive in week 16 (16% in week 15)
SI VIC data: 747 people hospitalized for COVID-19 (including 107 in intensive care) as of April 22
Sentinel intensive care units: Among the 243 reported ICU admissions, 51% of patients were aged 65 and older, and 58% had at least one risk factor
Mortality surveillance
Moderate excess mortality from all causes and across all age groups observed in the region during week 14 (March 30 to April 5), primarily in Maine-et-Loire and Sarthe
A moderate but significant excess in all-cause mortality across all age groups was observed in Loire-Atlantique during week 15 (April 6–12)
