As of April 16, 2020 (2:00 p.m.), 2,394 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported by hospital and private laboratories to the ARS Pays de la Loire since the start of the outbreak
Community-based surveillance
SOS Médecins: 1,023 procedures for suspected COVID-19 out of 10,000 procedures in week 15 (1,776 in week 14)
LABM (3 labs): 6% positive tests in week 15 (13% in week 14)
Surveillance in long-term care facilities, including nursing homes
1,687 cases (possible or confirmed) among residents, including 124 deaths in long-term care facilities and 41 in hospitals reported as of April 14, 2020
1,014 cases (possible or confirmed) among staff reported as of April 14, 2020
Hospital surveillance
Oscour® Network: 1,194 emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 visits in week 15 (1,594 in week 14)
Hospital laboratories: 16% of tests positive in week 15 (18.4% in week 14)
SI VIC data: 794 people hospitalized for COVID-19 (including 145 in intensive care) as of April 15
Sentinel intensive care units: among the 233 reported cases, 51% were aged 65 and older, and 57% had at least one risk factor
Mortality surveillance
A moderate excess in all-cause mortality across all age groups was observed in the region during week 14 (March 30 to April 5), primarily in Maine-et-Loire and Sarthe. The age group of 65 years and older was predominantly affected by this increase in all-cause mortality.
