Initial Results of the 2014 Overseas Department Health Survey - Detailed Results by Overseas Department, Age, and Gender
For the first time, INPES conducted a Health Barometer survey in the overseas departments (DOM). Between April and November 2014, this study surveyed more than 8,000 residents of Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Réunion on a wide range of topics. The survey results are presented in the form of annotated graphs in this 32-page summary. They are broken down by overseas department (DOM), age group, and gender, and compared with the results for mainland France. The topics covered include perceived health, perceived access to information, use of healthcare services, forgoing healthcare, disability, cancer screening, vaccination, mental health, sleep problems, tobacco use and e-cigarette use, alcohol consumption, illicit drug use, body weight, physical activity (including swimming ability), accidents, falls, helmet use, first sexual intercourse, and contraceptive practices. This data will help public health professionals refine their strategies and strengthen existing initiatives.
