Epidemiological Situation

Over the past two weeks, a seasonal increase in visits for gastroenteritis has been identified in the island’s emergency departments. This trend is also being observed, to a lesser extent, by the sentinel physician network. Weather conditions during the southern winter are conducive to the circulation of enteric viruses such as rotaviruses. Thus, a viral cause is strongly suspected, but the identification of the pathogens is still ongoing. In this context, it is important to remind the public of hygiene measures to limit the spread of gastroenteritis in the population.
