Epidemiological Situation

Since early December, there has been an increase in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis. The epidemic peak was reached in the last week of 2014, and a gradual and steady decline in visits for bronchiolitis was observed throughout January 2015, marking the end of the seasonal bronchiolitis epidemic in Réunion.However, the number of emergency room visits during this period was higher than in previous years, indicating a particularly severe outbreak this year. Virological data showed that RSV had been circulating on the island since October 2014.
