In 2018, a decline in the screening rate for syphilis and Chlamydia trachomatis infections was observed in Réunion among both men and women. This trend will need to be confirmed in the coming years (Source: SNDS).
Gonococcal infections and recent syphilis
The increase in the number of reported gonococcal infections and cases of recent syphilis continued in Réunion in 2018. The median age of people with recent syphilis is decreasing, particularly among heterosexual men and women; the proportion of heterosexual women among these cases is increasing (Source: RésIST).
Prevention
From November 25 to December 1, several screening and prevention initiatives will be offered in Réunion.
