  • Circulation of indigenous dengue in western Réunion Since January 1, 2012, 46 suspected cases of dengue have been investigated jointly by the vector control service of the Indian Ocean Health Agency (ARS OI) and the Cire OI. Of these suspected cases, 12 turned out to be probable (n=7) or confirmed (n=5) cases of dengue, including:− 5 imported cases from Thailand, India, or Indonesia (1 confirmed and 4 probable),− 7 locally acquired cases (4 confirmed and 3 probable). The identification of seven cases of dengue in which individuals were infected locally since the beginning of the year indicates the emergence of local transmission of the virus on the island.
