Leptospirosis Situation in Mayotte. Epidemiological Update as of February 13, 2015.
Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation
The number of cases in 2014 is comparable to that of 2013 and 2012. Over the past two years, the proportion of women and people under 20 has been increasing. This trend warrants monitoring. Agricultural activities and/or recreational or domestic water-based activities account for the majority of cases, followed by garbage collection. The proportion of hospitalizations has also decreased over time, which can be explained by the apparent decrease in the age of cases as well as by a change in clinical practice. If clinical symptoms occur after such work or after water-related activities, you should consult your doctor and inform them of the high-risk activity.
