Health Monitoring in Réunion. Update as of July 4, 2024.

Key Points

Leptospirosis

  • With the seasonal surge now over, leptospirosis data will no longer be published weekly. Nevertheless, it is important to remain vigilant. There is always a risk of infection during high-risk activities, regardless of the season. In fact, cases of leptospirosis are identified year-round, even though 87% of cases in 2022 and 71% of cases in 2023 occurred between January and June.

Dengue

  • The winter decline continues, with 9 cases reported in Week 25. Starting next week, dengue data will no longer be reported weekly. A summary of the season will be published in early September.

Acute respiratory infection (bronchiolitis, COVID-19, and influenza)

  • Increase in ARI surveillance indicators in emergency departments and in primary care.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Increase in emergency department visits for acute gastroenteritis among children under 5 years of age.
