Health Monitoring in Réunion. Bulletin of July 11, 2025.

Key Points

Chikungunya

  • Viral transmission continues to decline, with viral circulation limited to certain municipalities and no significant impact on healthcare utilization.

Dengue

  • Last confirmed indigenous case identified in week 17 and last imported case in week 24.

Leptospirosis

  • End of the seasonal surge. However, leptospirosis is present year-round in the region, and cases also occur during the southern winter.

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI)

  • Given the increase in emergency room visits and resulting hospitalizations, but the stabilization of the positivity rate and the reporting rate among sentinel physicians for influenza-like illness, Réunion remains in the pre-epidemic phase of influenza. A rapid transition to the epidemic phase is likely. Health indicators related to bronchiolitis remain at their baseline levels.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Surveillance indicators in primary care and hospitals (all ages combined) are declining, with a low health impact.
