Gastroenteritis
Sales of anti-diarrheal medications and oral rehydration solutions (ORS) in pharmacies in S1-2024 are slightly below the highest level reported over the past 5 years.
Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) and non-adherent Escherichia coli (DAEC) were identified in the majority of stool samples analyzed.
Severe cases of acute gastroenteritis admitted to the intensive care unit at the Mayotte Hospital Center (CHM): 24 cases between S36-2023 and S01-2024.
Water shortage
Starting December 22, 2023, water cuts were reduced, and water is distributed every third day for 24 hours (link to the water rotation schedule). Further reduction in water cuts effective January 15, 2024, with 24-hour cuts.
Bronchiolitis
The number of tests and the RSV positivity rate have been rising for several weeks. Mayotte has been in a bronchiolitis epidemic since Week 51 of 2023.
Influenza
Transition to the post-epidemic phase for influenza in Week 01-2024: the positivity rate for Influenza A(H3N2) virus continues to decline. As a reminder, the transition to the epidemic phase occurred in Week 44-2023.
