COVID-19 and Other Respiratory Viruses in Réunion. Update as of November 17, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Viral circulation increased slightly but remained at a low level, with an incidence rate of 70 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The testing rate remained stable. However, the positivity rate rose to 17%.

  • All hospital indicators were at low levels in S45.

Influenza

  • The flu epidemic that began in Week 39 continues in Réunion.

Bronchiolitis

  • In Week 45, there was an increase in emergency department visits due to bronchiolitis (32 in Week 45 vs. 24 in Week 44, i.e., a 33% increase). Conversely, the number of hospitalizations was down (11 in S45 vs. 13 in S44). In terms of virological surveillance, we observed co-circulation of RSV types A and B. Réunion is not currently experiencing a bronchiolitis epidemic.
