COVID-19 and Other Respiratory Viruses in Réunion. Update as of July 21, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
For the third consecutive week, indicators of viral circulation are on the rise. The incidence rate, adjusted for the July 14 holiday, is 547 cases per 100,000 residents; the adjusted testing rate is 2,345 people tested per 100,000 residents; and the positivity rate is 23%.
At the same time, new hospitalizations remain stable. Admissions to intensive care and deaths continue to fluctuate at a low level.
The proportion of cases of the BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant continues to rise in Réunion.
Influenza
In Week 28, Réunion remains in an epidemic phase due to the circulation of influenza A(H3N2) viruses in both community and hospital settings. Despite an increase in new hospitalizations, the health impact of this circulation remains moderate. This upward trend will therefore need to be monitored in the coming weeks.
