Cholera in Mayotte. Update as of May 22, 2024.

Key Points

  • Between May 16 and May 22, 2024, 21 cases of cholera were reported in Mayotte, bringing the total number of cases recorded in the department since March 18, 2024, to 105 (101 confirmed and 4 probable cases);

  • Of these, 87 were locally acquired and 18 were imported from the Comoros or countries on the African continent;

  • Three outbreaks are active in the department: Koungou (64 cases), Mtsangamouji (14 cases), and Passamainty (5 cases);

  • 10 severe cases requiring intensive care and 1 death have been recorded.
