Cholera in Mayotte. Update as of July 29, 2024.
Key Points
Significant slowdown in the outbreak: no cases of cholera have been reported in Mayotte since July 12.
A total of 221 cases have been recorded in the department since March 18, 2024 (214 confirmed cases and 7 probable cases).
Of these, 199 were locally acquired and 22 were imported cases.
All outbreaks are currently inactive.
Multidisciplinary consultation meetings have been established to determine the cause of death in suspected cases.
Fourteen severe cases required hospitalization in intensive care; five deaths attributable to cholera and two deaths partially attributable to cholera have been recorded.
