Reunion Island: A Perinatal Plan for the Health of Mothers and Children.

Réunion offers a comprehensive and diverse range of perinatal and pediatric care services. Despite this favorable healthcare context, perinatal indicators remain concerning, with elevated maternal and infant mortality rates, raising questions about the impact of social determinants of health. Deteriorating socioeconomic conditions do indeed have a negative impact on the health of mothers and children. Among other factors, family instability is a key determinant of academic failure. The primary objective of the regional perinatal plan is to promote access to prevention and care for parents and children. In particular, it aims to improve the geographic and organizational accessibility of healthcare services in all their psychosocial and cultural aspects.
