Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of September 13, 2022.
Key Points
From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.
In Occitanie, since May 1, 2022, 36 imported cases of dengue have been confirmed, including 15 from Cuba. Two imported cases of Zika and one imported case of chikungunya have also been identified.
Despite the limited number of imported cases, three chains of local dengue transmission have been documented in Occitanie this season: 1 case in Perpignan, 4 cases in the Hautes-Pyrénées, and 4 cases in Haute-Garonne (investigations ongoing).
To limit the risk of local transmission, 85 entomological surveys and 48 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of the cases.
Nationwide, from May 1 to September 9, 2022, the following were confirmed:
165 imported cases of dengue,
13 imported cases of chikungunya,
2 imported cases of Zika.
