Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of August 8, 2022.

Key points:

From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2022, 17 imported cases of dengue have been confirmed. The individuals involved had returned from Cuba (6), Réunion (4), Brazil (2), Mexico (2), Indonesia (1), Vietnam (1), and Singapore (1).

No cases of chikungunya or Zika have been identified.

To limit the risk of local transmission, 29 entomological surveys and 21 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.

Nationwide, from May 1 to August 5, 2022, the following were confirmed:

  • 83 imported cases of dengue,

  • 5 imported cases of chikungunya,

  • 0 imported cases of Zika.

One locally acquired case of dengue was identified in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in Perpignan on July 21, 2022.
