Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of November 9, 2012

Key points:

  • Regional Surveillance of Vector-Borne Diseases: No locally acquired cases have been detected to date in Languedoc-Roussillon. Nine cases of dengue and two cases of chikungunya, both imported following travel, have been confirmed among the 111 reports of suspected cases received in our region.

  • Regional surveillance of respiratory diseases- Bronchiolitis: low activity in the region (sharp increase in France),- Bronchitis: low activity,- Pneumonia: low activity, but increasing,- Asthma: normal activity, comparable to data from the previous year.

  • Gastroenteritis Surveillance: Low activity in emergency departments but showing an upward trend. SOS Médecins activity on the rise.

  • Resurgence of clustered cases of scabies: In recent weeks, the ARS has received several reports of suspected clustered cases of scabies, particularly in nursing homes and medical-social facilities in the region.
