Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of June 26, 2014.
Key Points
Vector-borne diseases: Since the start of enhanced surveillance for chikungunya and dengue, 44 reports of clinically suggestive cases of one or the other of these diseases have been received. Of these, 18 were confirmed as chikungunya and 4 as dengue. All of these cases contracted the disease while traveling in an endemic area; these are referred to as imported cases. To date, no locally acquired cases have been reported in our region.
Hospital and medical activity in the region: following a period of slightly higher activity and an increase in certain indicators monitored as part of the heat wave and health alert system, the indicators have returned to a level typically observed at this time of year or close to it.
