Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of July 19, 2012

Key points:

  • Hospital Activity: Hospital indicators exceeded the defined statistical thresholds on several occasions, which is common around July 14, particularly for the total number of first-time admissions, though the hospitalization indicator generally did not exceed the threshold. There were also a few instances where thresholds were exceeded for those aged 75 and older and those under 1 year of age. These remained isolated cases.

  • Summer SurveillanceIndicators for conditions potentially linked to heat remained relatively stable. A slight increase was observed in diagnoses within the "heat indicator" category, though numbers remained very low.

  • Vector-borne disease surveillanceOver the past 7 days, only 2 new suspected cases of chikungunya/dengue have been reported, bringing the total to 62 cases since the start of surveillance. For the record, 2 cases of dengue imported following travel have been reported since the start of surveillance.
