Key Facts
In Occitanie, since May 1, 2019, 111 cases have been confirmed
:- 101 imported cases (i.e., returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue, 2 of Zika, and 8 of chikungunya have been confirmed;
- 0 confirmed indigenous cases.
Nationwide, from May 1 to October 18, 2019
:- 529 imported cases (i.e., travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue (16% of which were travelers returning from Réunion), 49 cases of chikungunya, and 6 cases of Zika.
- 1 locally acquired case of Zika (Var department) and 9 locally acquired cases of dengue (1 cluster of 7 cases in the Alpes-Maritimes and 2 cases in the Rhône department)
A dengue epidemic is currently underway on Réunion Island, with more than 17,919 confirmed cases of dengue reported between the beginning of 2019 and September 22, 2019. The number of confirmed cases continues to decline, a trend that began in mid-May.
