Acute Respiratory Infections and Gastroenteritis in Occitanie. Bulletin of February 13, 2025.
Key points
Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI)
In Week 06, activity related to acute respiratory infections across all age groups was decreasing in primary care and in hospitals.
A very large proportion of ARI activity was related to consultations for influenza viruses (73% at SOS Médecins and 52% in emergency departments).
Influenza and influenza-like illness
The Occitanie region was in week 06 of its 9th epidemic week. Indicators were declining in both primary care and hospitals following a peak in activity in week 04. However, indicator levels remained very high and continued to exceed those observed during the epidemic peaks of the two previous seasons, particularly in hospitals.
The same trends were observed across all age groups, but levels were particularly high among children under 15.
Nationally, all regions of France were experiencing an epidemic, with a decrease in indicators across all age groups in both urban areas and hospitals. Influenza activity remained high, particularly among children.
Gastroenteritis and Acute Diarrhea
In the Occitanie region, the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice and visits to emergency care for gastroenteritis and acute diarrhea were generally stable compared to previous weeks and remained at a low level.
