Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Update as of September 30, 2022.

Key Points

From May 1 to September 30, 2022, 35 reports were received. Of these reports, 28 cases were identified as probable or confirmed, all of which were imported:

  • 26 cases of dengue (10 of whom had traveled to Cuba);

  • 3 cases of chikungunya;

  • no cases of Zika.

The cases were identified in 7 departments in the region: Charente-Maritime, Corrèze, Gironde, Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Vienne, and Haute-Vienne. For 25 of the 26 confirmed or probable cases reported in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, a mosquito control operator was called in.

In total, 44 investigations were conducted around confirmed or probable cases, whether they were residents or visitors to the region. These investigations led to 4 larvicidal treatments (in Landes and Pyrénées-Atlantiques) and 31 adulticidal treatments (in Corrèze, Gironde, Landes, and Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
