Public Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of October 1, 2015.
Mortality: The number of deaths recorded by the civil registry offices in the sentinel municipalities during week 38 is in line with expected values for this period.
Emergency room visits by at-risk populations: According to available data, emergency room activity among those aged 75 and older and those under 1 year of age is close to or below expected levels for this period.
Chikungunya and dengue: enhanced surveillance in Gironde and Lot-et-GaronneSince May 1, 118 suspected cases have been reported. Among them, 3 imported cases of dengue and 4 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed. In total, as of September 25, in the 22 metropolitan departments subject to enhanced surveillance, 87 imported cases of dengue and 24 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed. Six locally acquired cases of dengue have been confirmed in Nîmes (Languedoc-Roussillon region).
Notifiable Diseases (ND) No significant changes this week.
Acute Gastroenteritis (AG) In Aquitaine, activity is low and stable compared to previous weeks. In France, there has been an increase in SOS Médecins consultations for those under 14 and over 75.
Asthma and Allergies: Allergy activity is stable in Aquitaine and nationwide. In Aquitaine as well as in France, asthma activity is declining. Forecast for this week: very low pollen allergy risk for grass pollen in the region.
Respiratory virology and enterovirus meningitis: Two reports of enterovirus meningitis this week and one case according to the Oscour® network. Among the positive respiratory viruses (n=20), all are rhinoviruses.
Mushroom poisoning (indicator not detailed in the body of the document)Since June 29, 2015, 75 cases according to CAPTV and 33 according to Oscour® (613 and 320 in France) (data to be consolidated). One severe case reported in Aquitaine.
