Public Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of November 26, 2015.
Mortality: The number of recorded deaths is in line with expected levels.
Emergency room visits by vulnerable populations: Emergency room activity for children under 1 year of age is increasing (linked to the bronchiolitis epidemic) and is close to expected levels for those aged 75 and older.
Chikungunya and dengue: enhanced surveillance in Gironde and Lot-et-GaronneSince May 1, 151 suspected cases have been reported, including 9 confirmed imported cases of dengue and 5 confirmed imported cases of chikungunya. In total, as of November 20, in the 22 metropolitan departments subject to enhanced surveillance, 118 imported cases of dengue and 30 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed. Six locally acquired cases of dengue have been confirmed in Nîmes.
Reportable Diseases (MDO)No unusual situations have been observed since November 1, 2015.
Carbon monoxide poisoningSince September 1, 2015, six incidents have been reported in Aquitaine, including four in S43. One mass incident involved more than a hundred people, none of whom required transfer to the emergency room.
Acute Gastroenteritis (AG)In Aquitaine, as in France, activity is moderate and relatively stable, with figures remaining close to expected levels.
InfluenzaActivity remains low with a few sporadic cases of influenza in mainland France.
Bronchiolitis: Epidemic activity with a marked increase in emergency department visits (20% of visits among children under 2 years of age) and a continued rise in SOS Médecins calls (12% of calls involving children under 2 years of age). The increase in activity began earlier than in the previous two years. A marked increase in the number of cases handled by the AquiRespi network (184 cases). The increase is observed across the entire mainland but is particularly pronounced in the Île-de-France region, the North, the West, and the Southwest.
Respiratory virology and enterovirus meningitis: One report of enterovirus meningitis and 1 case according to the Oscour® network. Among the 25 positive respiratory virus tests, 10 were rhinoviruses and 8 were RSV.
Mushroom poisoning (indicator not detailed in the body of the document)Since June 29, 2015, 120 cases according to CAPTV and 47 cases according to Oscour® (S46) (1,353 and 563 in France) (data to be consolidated). One severe case reported in Aquitaine.
