Public Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of June 5, 2014.

Mortality:
The number of deaths recorded based on vital statistics data (all ages and those aged 75 and older) is within the expected range for this period.

Emergency room visits by vulnerable populations
Activity remains stable for those aged 75 and older and those under 1 year of age.

Reportable Diseases (RD)
No particular situation to note during the month of May.

Surveillance of chikungunya and dengue
Since May 1, the system for reporting and accelerated biological confirmation of suspected imported cases of chikungunya and dengue in individuals who have stayed in departments 33 or 47 has resumed. A few sporadic imported cases reported in Aquitaine and no autochthonous cases.

Acute Gastroenteritis (AG)
According to Oscour® and SOS Médecins, activity is low in Aquitaine, in line with expectations. Nationally, indicators for all age groups are stable and consistent with seasonal trends.

Asthma and Allergies
Activity for asthma and allergies is stable in Aquitaine and on the rise nationally, according to Oscour® and SOS Médecins. Forecast: moderate to high allergy risk (grass pollen) in Aquitaine.

School Absenteeism Overall
high rate. Mainly non-health-related reasons (Ascension Day long weekend).
