Public Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of June 12, 2014.

Mortality:
The number of deaths recorded based on vital statistics data (all ages and those aged 75 and older) remains stable, comparable to the expected number for this period.

Emergency department visits by vulnerable populations
Activity remains stable for those aged 75 and older and those under 1 year of age.

Reportable Diseases (MDO)
Note: 6 cases of Legionnaires’ disease have been reported since last month in the Gironde department (33), with no indication of clusters based on available information.

Surveillance of chikungunya and dengue
Twelve suspected imported cases of chikungunya and/or dengue, involving individuals residing in or having stayed in Gironde or Lot-et-Garonne, have been reported since May 1, 2014. No other locally acquired cases have been reported.

Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE)
According to Oscour® and SOS Médecins, low activity in Aquitaine, in line with expectations. Indicators stable across all age groups at the national level according to Oscour®.

Asthma and Allergies
Activity is stable according to Oscour® and SOS Médecins in Aquitaine and France for asthma and allergies; forecast: high allergy risk (grass pollen) for all departments.

School Absenteeism
Overall rate stable. No major health-related causes reported.
