Mortality
Following the increase observed in late January, the decline in the number of deaths (all ages and those aged 75 and older) recorded at the regional level began in Week 5, with figures falling back below the alert threshold. Data to be finalized in Week 6.
Emergency room visits by vulnerable populations
The number of emergency room visits among children under 1 year of age is stable but remains at a high level. No significant changes for those aged 75 and older.
Reportable Diseases (MDO)
No significant changes this week in Aquitaine.
Virology and enterovirus
meningitis Circulation of seasonal respiratory viruses according to the Bordeaux University Hospital, notably influenza A and coronaviruses; enterovirus meningitis remains stable according to OSCOUR®.
Acute gastroenteritis (AGE)
In Aquitaine, activity remains stable below epidemic thresholds according to the OSCOUR® network and SOS Médecins. Indicators have stabilized at the national level, though there has been an increase in SOS Médecins consultations among those aged 75 and older.
Influenza and influenza-like illnesses
An influenza epidemic has been confirmed in mainland France, with Aquitaine having one of the highest rates of consultations for influenza-like illnesses. Type A influenza viruses are predominant in outpatient care.
Bronchiolitis
Continued decline in bronchiolitis diagnoses in Aquitaine according to SOS Médecins, OSCOUR®, and the AquiRespi network, with 119 children treated on February 8–9. Activity remains stable at the national level.
Carbon monoxide poisoning
Since September 2013, 31 incidents involving 71 people, 50 of whom were transported to emergency departments (national level: 765 incidents, 2,356 people exposed, and 22 deaths).
School Absenteeism Overall
absenteeism rate slightly up. Several cases of flu-like illness and a few cases of gastroenteritis reported.
