Key Points

  • Continued increase in vaccination uptake among infants born since January 1, 2018, for whom the expanded vaccination mandate applies:

    • Regional vaccination coverage rates for DTP, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), hepatitis B (3 doses), and pneumococcal (3 doses) are increasing and stand at 91.5% and 92.4%, respectively;

    • Measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination coverage (2 doses) is 84%, with variations by department;

    • Vaccination coverage against meningococcal C (booster dose) has reached 90.6%.

  • Increase in vaccination coverage among children born before the law took effect:

    • Increase in catch-up vaccination against meningococcal C across all age groups, but vaccination coverage among adolescents is still insufficient to achieve herd immunity;

    • A 6.1-point increase in the first dose of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine among 15-year-old girls born in 2005 (42.8% compared to 36.7% for those born in 2004).

  • Increase in influenza vaccination coverage

    • An increase of 8.6 percentage points among people aged 65 and older (61.8% in 2020 compared to 53.2% during the 2019-20 season).
