Key points
Mortality: observed numbers below expected levels for this period.
Emergency department visits by vulnerable populations: among children under 1 year of age and adults aged 75 and older, emergency department activity remains close to expected levels for this period.
Virology: The number of positive respiratory virus samples from the laboratories at the Bordeaux and Poitiers University Hospitals remained stable in week 15 (63 positive samples). At the Poitiers University Hospital, of the 40 positive samples, the majority were for rhinovirus/enterovirus (19 samples) and adenovirus (10 samples). At the Bordeaux University Hospital, of the 19 positive samples, the majority were Parainfluenza (8 samples) and rhinovirus (6 samples).
Gastroenteritis: activity is stable according to SOS Médecins and Oscour® data, with values close to expected levels, below the alert thresholds for both data sources.
Reportable diseases (MDO):
- An increase in sporadic cases of hepatitis A among males has been observed in the region since early 2017.
- An increase in reported measles cases in the region since January 2017 confirms that the virus is actively circulating in several departments of the region. A cluster of cases has been identified (10 reported cases) in the municipality of Saint-Junien (87). Allergies: Allergy activity is once again rising sharply in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in week 15, according to data from the SOS Médecins associations. Nationally, the increase continues among 2- to 15-year-olds, with activity higher than in the previous two years. Note that birch pollen is still present, particularly in the central departments of the region, and that plane tree and oak pollen has spread throughout the region (with a moderate risk).
Chickenpox: Chickenpox activity reported to SOS Médecins is stable, with rates below seasonal expectations. Moderate activity is reported nationwide according to the sentinel network.
