Bronchiolitis

In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region: sixth week of the outbreak.

The bronchiolitis epidemic continues in the region, with activity remaining high in emergency departments and showing a downward trend at SOS Médecins clinics during week 15 of 2021:

  • 43 SOS Médecins consultations were recorded, representing 6.4% of activity among children under 2 years of age (compared to 7.1% in week 14);

  • 125 emergency department visits were recorded, representing 11.3% of activity among children under 2 years of age (compared to 10.3% in week 14), of which 69 were followed by hospitalization, representing 55% of bronchiolitis cases (compared to 57% in week 14); 42% of hospitalized cases were under 3 months old (compared to 51% in week 14);

  • 29% of hospitalizations among children under 2 years of age were for bronchiolitis (compared to 27% in week 14);

  • Active circulation of RSV in the region.
