COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Nouvelle-Aquitaine, March 4, 2021

Key Points

SARS-CoV-2 transmission remains active in the region: following a decline in indicators over the past three weeks, a slight increase in the incidence rate began in week 08.

In week 08-2021 (February 22–28), the number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases rose again, with 7,290 new confirmed cases in the region. The incidence rate reached 121.5 cases per 100,000 residents, compared to 110.7 in week 07-2021.

The positivity rate is stable, close to the warning threshold, at 4.9% (compared to 4.7% in week 07 of 2021). Among asymptomatic individuals tested, this rate is 3.0% (3.0% in week 07) compared to 12.5% among symptomatic individuals (11.2% in week 07).

In week 08, the testing rate rose slightly, with 2,466 tests performed per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 2,340 per 100,000 inhabitants in week 07.
