Asthma Surveillance in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region. Update as of September 12, 2022.
Key Points
Every year, during the two weeks following the start of the school year, a spike in emergency care visits for asthma is observed among children under 15 years of age. In mainland France, the school year began on Thursday, September 1, 2022; Santé publique France conducts weekly monitoring based on data from the OSCOUR® and SOS Médecins networks.
Status as of September 12, 2022:
In week 35 (August 29 to September 4, 2022) in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, a slight increase in emergency room visits and SOS Médecins consultations for asthma among children under 15 was observed, and this trend was confirmed in week 36 (3.2% and 1.8% of total activity, respectively).
Nationally, asthma-related visits to emergency departments and SOS Médecins clinics have been on the rise among children since the week school started. The increases observed remain comparable to those of the previous three years.
