Surveillance of Acute Gastroenteritis in Upper and Lower Normandy as of March 20, 2014
Epidemiological Situation
A general review of indicators for acute gastroenteritis in Lower Normandy and Upper Normandy (primarily those from the SOS Médecins associations) indicates that activity related to acute gastroenteritis continues to decline, a trend that began in week 2014-04 in both regions, following the same pattern observed during previous seasonal epidemics (with the exception of the 2009/10 epidemic). Levels recorded outside the winter epidemic season are expected to be reached gradually by the end of May, based on the trend observed during the same period in the seasonal epidemics from 2010/11 to 2012/13. The epidemic’s dynamics were consistent with those observed at the national level. Sporadic clusters of GEA cases are still being observed in long-term care facilities.
