Epidemiological situation

In mainland France, according to the Inserm Sentinelles network, the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was estimated at 198 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in week 2014-06, down from previous weeks and below the national epidemic threshold (260 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in week 2014-06) (Figure 1). At the regional level, the highest incidence rates were recorded in Franche-Comté (402 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), Basse-Normandie (394), and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur (346).According to the InVS national update of 02/04/14 (data from week 2014-05), activity at metropolitan hospital emergency departments for acute gastroenteritis (AGE) was stable across all age groups (source: InVS, OSCOUR® network). In week 2014-05, activity at these facilities related to AGE was lower than that observed during the same period in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons.
