Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of November 13, 2020.
Key Points
COVID-19
For the first time since Week 40, a decrease in the incidence rate of COVID-19 cases has been observed across the region’s five departments. Other indicators are also declining, notably a decrease in the weekly number of reported cases in the medical-social sector and a decrease in the number of new hospitalizations. However, the number of intensive care admissions continues to rise. Mortality peaks remain higher than expected; the age- and cause-standardized excess mortality rate has been classified as moderate since Week 43.
Bronchiolitis
Winter surveillance resumed in week 40. In week 45: bronchiolitis activity is stable and low. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), responsible for the majority of bronchiolitis cases in children under 2 years of age, has not yet been isolated in the laboratories of Normandy university hospitals. Current respiratory infections are mainly caused by rhinoviruses.
