COVID-19

Increase in viral circulation in Normandy, as in the rest of France. This affects all age groups, particularly young adults (ages 20–30). As of August 25, 2020:

• Increase in incidence (14.2 in Week 34 vs. 9.2 in Week 33 cases/week/100,000 population) and positivity rate (1.9% in Week 34 vs. 1.6% in Week 33)

• Increase in the effective reproduction number (R_eff) based on positive PCR tests for SARS-CoV-2: 1.45 [1.34–1.56]

• Hospital data: 69 hospitalizations, including 2 in intensive care, continuing to decline

• Clusters - Cluster alerts: since May 11, 42 clusters have been recorded in the region, 3 of which are currently under investigation (2 in Seine-Maritime and 1 in Eure)

In week 34:

• SOS Médecins: on the rise (4.6% in W34 vs. 2.9% in W33)

• Hospital emergency departments (Oscour®): Low activity, stable compared to the previous week (0.6% in W34 vs. 0.4% in W33)

• COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care facilities: 6 reports, including 5 with confirmed cases in Week 34 (vs. 3 reports in Week 33)

Mortality (COVID-19 and all causes)

No significant excess mortality related to COVID-19 or all causes, across all age groups or among those aged 65 and older, has been observed in the region in recent weeks.

Heat-related illnesses

From August 6, 2020, to August 11, 2020, Météo-France issued red alerts for 2 departments (Eure, Seine-Maritime), orange alerts for 2 departments (Calvados, Orne), and a yellow alert for 1 department (Manche). Monitoring was implemented, with the last update issued on August 18.
