Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Update as of September 27, 2023.
Key points
Chikungunya, dengue, Zika
Since the start of enhanced surveillance in the region, 374 cases of arboviral diseases—315 confirmed cases and 59 probable cases—have been investigated in Île-de-France, including 363 cases of dengue, 3 cases of chikungunya, 6 cases of Zika, and 2 cases of dengue/chikungunya co-infection. All of these cases were imported. Sixty hospitalizations for dengue and 2 for chikungunya have been reported. No deaths have been reported at this time.
The dengue cases were imported from the Caribbean (250), Latin America (48), Asia (46), and sub-Saharan Africa (19); the chikungunya cases from Mali, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire; the 6 Zika cases from Thailand; and the co-infection cases from India. Among the cases, 326 (87%) were potentially viremic in Île-de-France, and 189 (50.1%) resided in municipalities in the Île-de-France region infested with the “tiger mosquito” (Aedes albopictus).
A probable case of locally acquired dengue is currently under investigation and will be confirmed or ruled out in the next epidemiological update.
