Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Update as of September 20, 2023.

Key points

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • Since the start of enhanced surveillance in the region, 318 cases of arboviral diseases—270 confirmed cases and 48 probable cases—have been investigated in Île-de-France, including 307 cases of dengue, 3 cases of chikungunya, 6 cases of Zika, and 2 cases of dengue/chikungunya co-infection. All of these cases were imported (Table 1 and Figure 2). Fifty-six hospitalizations for dengue and 2 for chikungunya were reported. No deaths were recorded.

  • The dengue cases were imported from the Caribbean (205), Latin America (43), Asia (41), and sub-Saharan Africa (17); chikungunya cases from Mali, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire; the 6 Zika cases from Thailand; and the co-infection cases from India (Figure 3). Among the cases, 272 (86%) were potentially viremic in the Île-de-France region, and 125 (39.3%) resided in municipalities in the region colonized by the “tiger mosquito” (Aedes albopictus).
