Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Update as of August 30, 2023.

Key points

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • 130 confirmed cases and 23 probable cases have been identified in Île-de-France, including 148 cases of dengue, 1 case of chikungunya, and 4 cases of Zika, all of which were imported. Twenty-six hospitalizations for dengue and 1 for chikungunya have been reported. No deaths have been reported.

  • The dengue cases were imported from the Caribbean (82), Asia (29), Latin America (29), and sub-Saharan Africa (13); the chikungunya case from Mali; and the 4 Zika cases from Thailand. Among the cases, 136 (89%) were potentially viremic in the Île-de-France region, and 60 (39%) resided in municipalities in the region infested by the “tiger mosquito” (Aedes albopictus).

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • In S34, Paris and the inner suburbs were at yellow alert level on August 21, 2023. Heatwave indicators had risen slightly but remained at low levels (<0.25% of emergency department activity).

  • The Île-de-France region is at a green alert level in S35 as of the publication date of this epidemiological update.

COVID-19

  • COVID-19-related emergency department visits continue to rise—though at a slower pace—compared to previous weeks, across all age groups and most notably among those under 15, as do activity levels.

  • SOS Médecins calls remain stable.

  • The number of visits followed by hospitalizations increased slightly in Week 34 (119 hospitalizations) compared to the previous week (84 hospitalizations).
