Bronchiolitis
Continued increase in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis, accompanied by an increase in visits followed by hospitalization compared to week 46. Children under one year of age accounted for 93% of emergency department visits for bronchiolitis among children under two years of age and 95% of visits followed by hospitalization.
Stabilization in the use of SOS Médecins for bronchiolitis among children under two years of age.
Flu-like syndromes and acute respiratory infections
The number of healthcare visits for flu-like symptoms continued to rise in private practice (SOS Médecins) as well as in hospitals. The number of visits increased by more than 26% in private practice and by 15% in emergency departments.
The increase in cases was more pronounced among those under 15 years of age for SOS Médecins calls (+34%), while it primarily affected those over 15 in emergency departments (+17%).
The number of hospitalizations following emergency room visits rose sharply (+95%) but remained at a relatively low overall level.
COVID-19
SOS Médecins: In S47, the number of COVID-19-related cases stabilized across all age groups.
Emergency department visits: In S47, the number of visits for COVID-19 stabilized. There was a decrease among children under 15 and those aged 45–64, and an increase among those over 65. The number of visits followed by hospitalization stabilized.
Clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in long-term care facilities: In weeks 46 and 47, the number of clusters reported by long-term care facilities (primarily nursing homes) decreased. However, the data has not yet been consolidated.
SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater: the level of circulation continued to show a downward trend in week 47.
The XEC recombinant is emerging rapidly and accounted for 33% of strains isolated and typed in France in weeks 43 and 44.
Acute gastroenteritis
Stabilization in the number of SOS Médecins calls for acute gastroenteritis among children under 15 and a slight decrease among adults. The proportion of SOS Médecins calls was higher than in the previous two years. Stabilization of indicators in the Sentinelles network.
