  • In 2024, 57% of deaths were certified electronically in Île-de-France (49% in France). Disparities in implementation exist across departments, notably with 39% of deaths certified electronically in Essonne compared to 68% in Paris.

  • Electronic certification is well established in public and private healthcare facilities (86% and 79%, respectively).

  • Electronic death certification remains underutilized in nursing homes (35%), at home (11%), and in public places (15%). Its adoption could be facilitated by connecting municipalities to the HuBEE portal

  • to measure the impact of epidemics such as COVID-19 or the flu

  • to identify unusual trends in certain causes of death
