COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of October 15, 2020

Key Points

Continued spread of the virus and accelerated progression of the COVID-19 epidemic

  • Standardized incidence rates are rising sharply in Week 41 at the regional level as well as in all departments of the Île-de-France region, which is partly due to the significant increase in testing rates. The standardized incidence rate has reached 300 cases per 100,000 residents in the region. In Paris, this rate is 398 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest in the region.

  • The positivity rate is also rising in the region and in all departments, indicating a sharp increase in the epidemic.

  • Adults aged 20 to 29 remain the age group most affected by COVID-19; however, the incidence rate continues to rise across all age groups, except for those aged 0 to 9.
